Summer Squash Casserole

This recipe calls for cooking the squash before combining it with the rest of the ingredients, but I have just sliced the squash very thin and mixed it with the remaining ingredients. The texture is different, but the squash gets fully cooked in the oven.

Ingredients:

12 yellow squash, sliced, cooked, drained and mashed
salt and pepper to taste
1 chopped onion
1/2 green bell pepper
1 clove garlic
1 Tablespoon margarine
2 beaten eggs
1 cup bread crumbs, grated
1 can cream style corn
1 cup grated cheese
buttered bread crumbs

Directions:

Saute the onion, bell pepper and garlic in margarine. Combine the beaten eggs, grated bread crumbs, corn, squash, sauteed vegetables and grated cheese. Pour into a 2 quart casserole dish and top with buttered bread crumbs. Bake at 450° for 45 minutes.
