When we were first married, Sheldon thought sour cream raisin pie sounded awful. After tasting Mom's version of this pie, it became one of his favorites. The sour cream gives the filling a smooth, creamy texture, and the spices blend with the raisins to make it taste like a spice cake.

Mom's Sour Cream Raisin Pie

Ingredients:

1 cup raisins
Cover with water and bring to a boil.

Add following:
1 cup sugar
¼ tsp. salt
2 Tbs. flour
¼ tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1 egg
½ cup canned milk
1 Tbs. vinegar

Bring to boil. Set off and add:
¼ cup coconut,
¼ cup sour cream,
1 Tbs. oleo.
1 tsp. vanilla

Meringue:
3 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla
¼ cup sugar
Beat egg whites until frothy. Continue beating while gradually adding sugar and vanilla. Beat until stiff peaks form and sugar is completely dissolved.

Directions:

Pour into a baked pie shell and cover with meringue. Brown meringue in a 350° oven for 12-15 minutes.
