Bread: No Fail Brown RollsLots of Free Recipes |
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar (some brown)
1/2 cup shortening
1 egg (slightly beaten)
2 Tbs, dark molasses
Directions:
Cream first 2 ingredients then add molasses and beaten egg all together.
Meanwhile have 2 cakes yeast, soaking in 3 cups water.
Add 3 Tbs, cream (sweet or sour) Then add this liquid mixture to the sugar mixture.
Sift together: 2 cups regular flour 2 cups graham flour 2 tsp, salt 1 tsp, baking powder
Combine flour mixture with sugar mixture and beat well.
Add about 4 more cups of flour until dough does not stick to board while kneading.
Do not make as stiff as regular dough. Part of this dough maybe used for cinnamon rolls.
Follow usual method, let rise until double in bulk, work down, let rise again and then form rolls and place in pan to rise until double. Bake 30 minutes in 350 degree oven
